The Grateful Dread (aka longtime activist Natalie Davis) is
a firm believer in the old axiom that those who aren't a part
of the solution are part of the problem. Or rather, part of the
many problems facing the world and, for those who consider themselves
american citizens, this country. From war to queerbashing to
poverty to environmental terrorism, there are many wrongs that
must, in the name of justice and for the betterment of our planet
and people, be righted. We see no other way: Society is moving
at a collision course. We must do something. It is time to get
active, to take progressive voices and viewpoints to the world.
Wherever you are, you can make a difference--whether you're in
the government, in the streets--even in your own home, making
use of your computer, phone, fax, and the mail. This is why the
armchair activist effort has been under way and growing since
1996: it's time to do something... for you and for me. and you
know this is the truth. In this space and on the Armchair Activist
and Armchair Activism-GLBT e-mail lists, we'll provide news you
can use and action alerts that offer ways in which you can help
to make a difference -- right now, from your home. We hope it
will motivate you to go out into the world to do more, of course
(and we'll offer info on Baltimore activism events), but if you
can't, here is your way to work for social and economic justice
and toward making life better and fairer for all. So join the
E-lists, catch the latest progressive news and views (and consider
links and commentary on my blog) via All Facts & Opinions, peruse
the many alerts, and GET TO WORK. By the way, thanks for joining
the effort. Hope to see you again soon. Go, do. And come back
often, and do some more. BE PART OF THE SOLUTION!
